The Chicago Bears selected WR Tyler Scott out of Cincinnati in the fourth round with the 133rd overall pick. He adds depth and value to the Bears’ already-solid WR room, so let’s get to know the newest Bears WR and what it means for the future of the Bears receiving group.
After 3 years at Cincinnati, Scott declared for the NFL Draft. He was ranked as the 8th-best receiver but ultimately fell to the sixteenth taken. After a lot of waiting and a swing of emotions, Scott finally got the call, getting emotional and overwhelmed by feelings of appreciation and opportunity.
You can tell Scott was relieved to get drafted and hoped to get drafted to Chicago to work with Justin Fields as his QB, as evidenced by this Instagram post:

In 26 games over his final 2 years as a Bearcat, Scott posted 1419 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. He brings a deep-ball catching ability to Chicago, as 10 of his 14 touchdowns went for 30+ yards. He’s also a speedster as he was a Junior Olympic Sprinter and ran a 4.44-second 40-yard dash time. He played some running back in high school, which will help him with his run-after-catch technique.
Lance Zierlein, an NFL analyst, compared him to T.Y. Hilton for his NFL Comparison. His size and frame do make it tough on contested catches, but once he gets open, defenders better be sure to be as quick as Scott to catch up to him because he’s fast and has his eyes set on the end zone.
One of the best things about Tyler Scott? He’s going to fit in nicely with Justin Fields because of the fact that he is a deep-ball receiver. His ability to get open on all three levels, especially deep downfield, will expose NFL defenders.
Scott enters an already-loaded WR room with DJ Moore leading the way. Darnell Mooney is quick and can also play at all three levels and can line up both inside and outside. Chase Claypool is a strong and physical receiver who is great for playing contested catches. He also has a great buildup speed which he can take advantage of unsuspecting defenders. The Bears also have Velus Jones Jr., Equanimeous St. Brown, and Dante Pettis all returning to the WR room and adding value.
I think Chicago is one of a few places where Tyler Scott could have been drafted to really amplify his skills as a pass catcher in the NFL. To pair up with Justin Fields with the skillset and athleticism Tyler Scott has, Chicago could have another great QB-WR duo.
