Bears-Chargers Week 8 Preview

The Chicago Bears (2-5) head out to Los Angeles to face Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers (2-4) on Sunday Night Football. Tyson Bagent is set to make his second career start after delivering a win in his first career start vs the Las Vegas Raiders in week 7, 30-12. Will Bagent and the boys keep the momentum rolling or will Joey Bosa and the Chargers defense find new life and pick up their third win of the year?

Especially after last week’s win, now is the time for the Bears to keep the momentum going while the vibes are high in the locker room, even more so considering they’re playing a Chargers team that’s played below expectations much of the year. Tyson Bagent had a solid game last week and read the defense well, and even if it was the Raiders defense, it was still a success. Bagent will have the task of facing a Chargers defense with Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, Derwin James, and Asante Samuel Jr. Granted the group has been underperforming most of the year, but they are still a talented group, and Getsy will have to gameplan to stretch the field both horizontally and vertically. If Getsy has Bagent in position to make the smart play and get excellent blocking from his offensive line as they did last week, then this game will be much more manageable.

D’Onta Foreman will be running hungry again after his second career three-touchdown game (first with the Bears). Now the Chargers know the strengths of D’Onta Foreman and will likely try to block all running gaps well. And as for the defense of the Bears, keep doing what you’ve been doing. They allowed 12 points to the Raiders, 13 to the Vikings, and 20 to the Commanders. By being able to stop the offense’s point of attack early, the Bears will improve their chances of winning. It’s likely the Charges opt to air it out with Justin Herbert under center and a good, but still young Bears secondary. Austin Ekeler will likely play after limping off the field last week against the Chiefs.

The Bears have a real shot of winning, and need ALL three phases of the ball to execute, as well as playcalling!
