Following a disappointing season for the Green Bay Packers, all eyes are now focused on the 2023 NFL Draft. With a depleted roster, there are more holes than draft picks can likely fill, however, this draft will play a huge roll in deciding the Packer’s future for years to come. Here are three immediate holes the Packers can fill in the 2023 NFL Draft:
Tight end:
The 2023 tight end class runs deep with names such as Dalton Kincaid out of Utah and Darnell Washington from the Georgia Bulldogs but the crown jewel of bunch is Notre Dame’s Michael Mayer.
Mayer is the complete do it all tight end in this years draft and is regarded by most as one of the best players in the entire class and due to positional draft value Mayer could be sitting there waiting for the Packers to select him at pick 15.
Safety:
Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage’s combined safety play was deeply concerning, while Savage responded well to being benched mid season Amos never picked his performances up again.
With Amos’ contract coming to an end this year it’s highly likely the Packers will go with a safety this year.
The best safety is this years draft class is without doubt the number 1 option at that position is Brian Branch out of Alabama however he would have to picked at 15 as he will be included in every first round mock you see up until April.
Other names in this years safety class likely to be considered by the Packers are Antonio Johnson (Texas A&M), Jordan Battle (Alabama) and J.L Skinner (Boise State).
Tackle:
You may like to hear it but David Bhaktiari is taking up a huge chunk of the Packers cap space without playing alot of football and his injury status is starting to become frankly bizarre.
Should the Packers move on from the all pro left tackle they would be in a prime spot to take one of the premium offensive linemen in this class.
While there’s no clear number 1 offensive tackle to take the top names coming out of it this year are Paris Johnson Jr (Ohio State) Peter Skoronski (Northwestern) Broderick Jones (Georgia) and Anton Harrison (Oklahoma)
