Last Tuesday the Vikings revealed their new jerseys. The first jerseys they have presented to the hungry Vikings fan base for a decade. Fans were aware of what it was gonna be, so it wasn’t a surprise to most. However, even with the fans knowing, the fans still absolutely loved it and so did I.
Vikings fans for a few years now have been asking for some sort of throwback jersey. They have been primarily asking for the 2012 throwbacks as well as the 90’s throwbacks. Although the Vikings went with the 60’s throwbacks, fans haven’t complained an ounce. The worst reaction to the jerseys I have seen was probably Kirk’s, “coolio”, which fans critiqued more than the actual jersey. I think the Vikings had an absolute win with these jerseys considering the other throwbacks that have been released. I’m not trying to throw any shade to the Jets, but they definitely could’ve done better in my opinion. If you were to compare the Vikings throwbacks to the other alternates that have been released, the Vikings have top 3, or top 5, alternates.
Now, although my opinion has probably been revealed, I personally love these jerseys. Since they have been in Madden I have always loved them. I was hoping the Vikings would do a throwback of something and I’m glad they finally pulled through. When I initially saw them released I was so tempted to just go and buy one. The gray facemask being brought back is awesome. Being that the Vikings strayed away from that facemask a long time ago, fans I feel like are glad to have a glimpse of it again. Overall the Vikings really made this a great jersey.
At the end of the day, fans definitely would’ve loved a 90’s away throwback jersey, but the 60’s throwback was such a smart choice. Right away it kind of shows what the Vikings want to accomplish this season–success. If these jerseys are any implication of how the Vikings will perform this season, I cannot wait to see their performance.
