The Vikings are coming off a very impressive season where they showed, and stunned, the league how dangerous they really are. However, Vikings fans are nervous about the future. With a team slowly transitioning from the old to the new, fans don’t really know what the future has in stock. Although there is a lot of uncertainty within the Vikings fanbase, there is one thing that a majority of fans can agree on; the Vikings need to make some changes if they want to be competitive.
When I say this people would agree. This is a young, inexperienced, team that has yet to take a step into a Super Bowl caliber talent. Last year it showed. Yes, the Vikings won the NFC North, but they also lost in the wild card round at home. I remember watching that game and just thinking, “this team has an interesting future”. Watching them last season was very stressful. I wouldn’t be surprised if a Vikings fan somewhere got an ulcer from watching them all season. The picture I am trying to paint is that if you want to be a Super Bowl contender you have to have that consistency to win games by a fine margin. As Vikings fans have learned, one possession wins don’t last forever. Let alone show a team’s true potential. Like I had mentioned, the Vikings did have a successful formula, so there is some credit due to them.
This past season was a roller coaster. As much as this season stressed me out, we really got to see a team who’s mood truthfully depended on each other. I mean this team, of all teams, completed the single greatest comeback in NFL history. Granted they shouldn’t have been down that much in a singular half of football, but what matters is that they came back and won. Not to mention, they were a young team. The future right now for the Vikings is amazing, as long as everyone develops properly and the upper office does their job efficiently, this team can be dominant in 3-4 years.
All in all, I think the Vikings need to make some changes–starting at right guard of course. I think once the Vikings bring in young, consistent, talent, they will prosper. I say give it 3 seasons this team will be a very threatening team. Given that this team was considered for Super Bowl appearances 3 years ago, Vikings fans would love to get back to that era of hope.
