Aaron Rodgers famously said not long ago that he was not going to hold the Packers hostage. He needed time to contemplate his playing career before making a decision. This was absolutely fair on his part. But now both the Packers and Jets futures are being held hostage by Aaron Rodgers. The legal tampering period started at 11am CT Monday, and since then the Packers and Jets have neither made any outside signings. This is because of Aaron Rodgers.
Since tampering has started a number of free agents have been taken off the board. Players that may have been considering the Packers if not for the crazy turmoil surrounding the QB room. Some of these moves include trading for TE Jonnu Smith, signing WR Sterling Shepard and S Marcus Epps. Each of these players would have filled a hole on the team and provided a better core of players going forward. But now the team is hamstrung. As more free agents come off the board Packers fans should expect zero activity from Green Bay until the Rodgers situation is resolved.
The Packers fan base is split and in turmoil. All because of Aaron Rodgers. He has turned fans of the same team into mortal enemies simply because he cannot make up his mind in a timely fashion. Similar to the Favre saga, the end of Rodgers career is crashing and burning. Only time, Love being good and a good draft pick can heal the fissure in the Packers fanbase.
