Bears vs. Lions: Week 14 Postgame Reaction

BEARS WIN (again)! Chicago Bears beat the Detroit Lions 28-13

A huge game, the Chicago Bears defeated the Detroit Lions 28-13 in an NFC North rivalry game. The Bears improve to 5-8 and stand only two games behind the second-place Minnesota Vikings. While playoff chances are still slim, a win over the division leader today shows promise for the future.

Quarterback Justin Fields showcased his usual dual-threat capabilities, throwing for 200+ yards, rushing for 50+ yards, and finishing with two touchdowns. Wide receiver DJ Moore also finished with two touchdowns, scampering for a rushing one early and then catching a deep ball from Fields for a beautiful long touchdown. Tight end Cole Kmet had a solid game as he ended with 66 receiving yards, and the run game was solid too as the team finished with 142 total rushing yards. Despite a lull in the middle of the game, the offense started and finished the game strong, looking progressively more dangerous with each week.

The defensive side of the ball put on another show today, shutting out the Lions in the second half. They forced three turnovers during the afternoon, as linebacker T.J. Edwards fell on a fumble while cornerback Jaylon Johnson and cornerback Tremaine Edmunds each ended with an interception. Safety Jaquan Brisker was flying all over the field today, finishing with an absurd 17 tackles (the next highest Bear total was 7) and two pass deflections. Finally, defensive end Montez Sweat continues to prove his worth, sacking the quarterback once but hitting him four total times (and ending with a pass deflection).

Another fantastic outing for the Bears, they are seriously putting together some nice wins recently. While they have a hole to dig out of, the NFC Wild Card race isn’t completely out of the picture yet. The Bears will need to continue their stellar play next week against the red-hot quarterback Joe Flacco and the Cleveland Browns.
