Bears vs. Falcons: Week 17 Postgame Reaction

Chicago Bears defeat the Atlanta Falcons 37-17

The Chicago Bears are absolutely on a roll right now, cruising past the Atlanta Falcons in an easy victory. However, with the Los Angeles Rams defeating the New York Giants in the same afternoon, the Bears playoff chances are gone. Despite this, the Bears carry big momentum coming into a rivalry matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 18.

Quarterback Justin Fields continued his solid play, ending with 268 passing yards, 45 rushing yards, and 2 total touchdowns. Fields played safe with the ball with good reads and used his legs as usual when needed. The run game for the offense was crucial, as running back Khalil Herbert had another stellar game, finishing with 124 rushing yards and a touchdown. This now marks back-to-back games with Herbert rushing for over 100 yards, showing he has fully returned from his injury. Wide receiver DJ Moore continued to add to his shining season as well, hauling in 9 receptions for 159 receiving yards and a touchdown himself.

The defensive side of the ball yet again looked smothering and dominating, a trend for the past couple of weeks. Rookie cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was even named NFC Player of the Week for his two interceptions and fantastic defensive back play. A breakout star as just a rookie, his fellow young cornerback Kyler Gordon also finished with an interception and is having a fantastic end to the season himself. Linebacker T.J. Edwards also snagged an interception on top of his extremely valuable contribution as well, a huge add from the offseason. The addition and extension of star defensive end Montez Sweat has proved to be smart, as he elevates his teammates’ play while being a monster on the defensive line.
