Vikings to Target in Fantasy Football

Draft season for NFL fantasy football is quickly approaching. If you are looking to add some hometown players to your roster, take a look at these big time playmakers.

Superstar: Justin Jefferson
Jefferson will thrive in 2023 under new Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell. JJ was able to put up amazing numbers in his first two seasons under one of the most conservative offenses in recent NFL memory. Under KOC, Jefferson will no longer be muzzled and have the chance to be able to showcase every part of his generational talent. Expect Jefferson to have a similar year to 2022 Cooper Kupp. In fantasy terms this means JJ should be a top target. He will go fast and will be a first round pick in many larger leagues.

Under the Radar: Irv Smith Jr
Tight End is an often overlooked position on Fantasy rosters. Before his season-ending injury last year, Irv Smith Jr was expected by many to be the breakout Tight End of the year. Nearly a year later, Smith is ranked 16th on ESPN fantasy football, which puts him behind Cole Kmet, Zach Ertz, and Dawson Knox. This means he will be an easy mid-late round draft target for knowledgeable managers. Expect Smith to be a top Tight End target at this time next year.

Late Round Steal: Alexander Mattison
Experienced fantasy managers know Mattison well. Every year he seems to have 4-5 breakout games and prove his worth on rosters. Mattison does well stepping in for the injury-prone Dalvin Cook when the Vikings need it most. Mattison will not go earlier than the 20th RB taken, making him a steal for managers in the late rounds and possibly even free agency depending on the league. Mattison is a smart selection to sure up your RB room and provide a safety net for injured backs.
