The Detroit Lions Sign Former Special Teams Star: CJ Moore

On Tuesday, The Detroit Lions signed safety and special teamer CJ Moore off The Houston Texans practice squad. With safety Tracy Walker III suffering a season ending injury early in the season and Bobby Price going on the injured reserve list, Moore will add a veteran presence in the secondary alongside Deshon Elliot, Ifeatu Melifonwu, and Kerby Joseph.

CJ Moore had previously played with The Detroit Lions, but was released before the season on an injury settlement. Not only is he familiar with the system on defense, but he is also a special teams standout. Playing the gunner role on the punt team, he will add immediate juice to the special teams. Moore played with The Lions for three seasons, stemming from 2019 to 2021, yet only making a single start in his campaign, in 2021. Detroit is hoping to get the veteran on the field as soon as their week eight matchup when they host The Miami Dolphins.
