If the regular season ended today, the Vikings and Giants would both find themselves in the playoffs. The Vikings host the Giants Sunday at noon in a playoff-caliber matchup. This game could be a good indicator of what to expect for the Vikings come January.
After clinching the NFC North in Week 15, the Vikings look to carry their momentum against the 8-5-1 Giants. The Week 15 win has now guaranteed the Vikings at least 1 home playoff game that will most likely be against a wild card team. Currently, the Giants sit at the 6-seed and could eventually play the Vikings in the playoffs.
This game will have similar variables to what we will see in January with 2 playoff teams facing off at US Bank Stadium. This season, the Vikings have faced 3 out of the 4 high-powered NFC East teams winning only 1 of these 3 games—the 2 games they lost were blowouts against both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. Facing the 4th and final team will be a test for the Vikings to see if they can go .500 against the well-rounded division.
Despite national media accusing the team of being “frauds”, The Vikings look to prove they are a legit playoff contender with a win on Sunday against Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, and the respectable New York Giants.
Sunday will be a good indicator if Vikings fans should get their hopes up and go all-in, or get ready to have their heart broken come playoff time.
