Ryan Poles and Co. have been very busy this off-season in making sure that this Bears team receives big upgrades on both ends of the ball. The Bears have been the busiest team in the NFL when it comes to the off-season however, there is work that still needs to be done for this Bears team to have a shot at winning the NFC North next year. With the draft slowly approaching, there has been a lot of talk regarding the Bears ninth overall pick as Ryan Poles is reportedly “willing” to trade the pick and there will definitely be suitors. Fans and some analysts believe that the Bears could look into trading for Jeffery Simmons, so here is my thoughts on that potential trade:
Jeffery Simmons Fit in Chicago
There is no denying that Jeffery Simmons is a stud that teams are gonna be interested in. The Bears will look to make moves to improve the roster in the draft, but that does not mean they will not try and trade for good role players. With that being said, Jeffery Simmons’s fit with the Bears is something that should not be worrisome. Jeffery Simmons might not be a superstar like Von Miller, but he would still be a valuable role player that the Bears can build pressure off of. Jeffery Simmons in 2022 had a total of 189 tackles, 109 solo tackles, 89 assisted tackles, and 7.5 sacks. His numbers are decent, but if you are looking at the situation that Simmons was in with Tennessee last season, then you should know that he was the engine to the defense last season. For me, Jeffery Simmons would easily fit Matt Eberflus’ defense with Tremaine Edmunds and T.J, Edwards.
What a Trade Would Look Like:
Jeffery Simmons, 10 Overall Pick, 2024 Second Round Pick
9 Overall Pick
This trade is the best scenario for either team if they wish to get a deal done. The Bears get more draft capital to build for the future as well as a great defensive tackle in Jeffery Simmons and as far as the Titans go, they jump the needle in stealing a player that might be on Philadelphia’s radar that could help fill in a hole on their roster.
Should the Bears Trade for Jeffery Simmons?
I 100% believe that Ryan Poles should be spamming the Titan’s voicemail in order to get Jeffery Simmons in Halas Hall. Jeffery Simmons is a player that would fit the mold of what the Bears need in their defense and I believe that Ryan Poles will be doing his due diligence in attempting to get Jeffery Simmons in a Bears jersey. While I believe the Bears will be interested in Simmons, there are going to be other teams who will have interest in a trade as well like the Eagles, for example. Even though there is going to be competition for Jeffery Simmons, I believe that Ryan Poles can pull off a deal for Simmons, considering he traded for a star like D.J. Moore, and was able to sign a superstar in Tremaine Edmunds. For a change, I have no doubt that the Bears will be able to upgrade this team in big ways, and maybe one of those upgrades will be Jeffery Simmons.
