He. Could. Go. All. The. Way.
Last Thursday against the New England Patriots, Kene Nwangwu returned his 3rd ever kickoff for a touchdown. In recent history, the Vikings have had dynamic special teams players, and it is time to include Nwangwu in the conversation.
Going back just to 2009, the Vikings have had a lot of successes in the return game starting with Percy Harvin. During his time in Minnesota, Harvin recorded 5 kick return TDs and tacked on another kick return TD in the Super Bowl for the Seattle Seahawks.
Marcus Sherels is also a name that needs to be mentioned in this conversation. However, Sherels focused on returning punts while on special teams, he also tallied 5 punt return TDs for the Vikings during his career.
The most notable kickoff returner in the game right now, Cordarrelle Patterson is also on this list. The Vikings’ first-round pick scored 5 kick return touchdowns in purple and just recently broke the NFL record of the most kick return TDs of 9.
Nwangwu has followed suit and is now returning kicks for touchdowns for the Vikings. In just 2 years, he has found the endzone 3 times. These stats are similar to those that have come before him. Greatness could follow this young star.
One question you must ask is: what are the Vikings putting in the sauce?
It is clear the Vikings breed dangerous kick returners.
