Detroit Lions: Week 3 Stock Up, Stock Down

Throughout nearly the entire game, I was hoping, even expecting to write an article that praised Detroit for beating one of the better teams in the NFL. Sadly, due to Dan Campbell, Austin Seibert, Mike Hughes, and Amani Oruwariye, I won’t be. This was an embarrassing loss, and it’s one to forget. There were so many mistakes today, and it seriously looked like Detroit had lost their grit.

There were multiple injuries today, including Amon-Ra St. Brown’s leg injury, D’Andre Swift’s arm and ankle injuries, Josh Reynolds’ leg injury, and Tracy Walker’s potential Achilles injury. However these injuries aren’t why Detroit lost. Detroit shot themselves in the foot when Dan Campbell attempted that late field goal that has everyone angry. This was an absolute joke of a call, but I still think Dan Campbell is a good coach. A lot of this is on Austin Seibert. He’s an NFL kicker. He needs to be able to make that.

Winners and Losers of the game:
Stock up – Jamaal Williams:

Williams performed well today. Honestly, he did a really good job. I saw a minor mistake or two, but overall, I have nothing to complain about.

Stock up – Jared Goff:

Jared Goff stepped up today. He threw that late interception, but the game was practically over at that point anyway.

Stock up – Jack Fox:

Per usual, Jack Fox had a great game punting the football. If I’m being honest, it’s pretty sad to have a punter with the stock up group, but Fox had a great game.

Stock down – Austin Seibert:

Do I even need to explain why Austin Seibert’s here? What an awful day for him. In my opinion, his future with the lions is questionable.

Stock down – Amani Oruwariye + Mike Hughes:

This was an absolute abysmal performance from Amani Oruwariye. There were so many penalties, so many yards let up, and worst of all, this was against Adam Thielen, not Justin Jefferson. Actually, Jeff Okudah locked Jefferson down pretty well. Partly to blame for Adam Thielen’s success is Mike Hughes. Although, Hughes played a more disciplined game than Oruwariye, he absolutely sold.

Stock down – Dan Campbell:

Obviously, I’m not jumping on the raging “Fire Dan Campbell” train. I still believe that he’s the future of this team, but he absolutely blew it today. He’s made bad decisions before, but frankly, I expected better.
